France to beat Uruguay @ Evens
Four of the last five meetings between these teams have ended 0-0, including encounters at the 2002 and 2010 finals, so a tight tussle is on the cards in Nizhny Novgorod. However, we believe France have the attacking weapons to crack open a resilient Uruguay defence, with the guile of Antoine Griezmann, the speed of Kylian Mbappe and the power of Paul Pogba proving too much to handle.
Brazil to beat Belgium @ 11/10
Two of the most exciting teams to watch at this World Cup will do battle in Kazan and there is every chance we will get a classic encounter. Neymar, Philippe Coutinho and Gabriel Jesus will go head-to-head with Eden Hazard, Kevin De Bruyne and Romelu Lukaku, so sparks should fly. We just feel Brazil have a more composed defence, though, and that gives them the edge in this eagerly-awaited showdown.
England to beat Sweden @ 9/10
The Three Lions may have met their match in terms of physical presence and aerial athleticism, but Gareth Southgate’s side can show they have more layers to their game than a solid, but unspectacular Sweden outfit. This is the type of match where the pace and movement of Raheem Sterling, Jesse Lingard, Dele Alli and Marcus Rashford may prove decisive in the final third of the pitch.
Croatia to beat Russia @ 6/5
Both of these sides survived penalty shoot-outs at the last-16 stage and we are hoping they open up a bit more in Sochi. Russia did remarkably well to stifle Spain, when totally dominated in terms of possession. However, Croatia have more of a cutting edge than the current La Roja squad, with Luka Modric, Ivan Rakitic and Ivan Perisic inspiring their selection in our football accumulator tips.
